Main Story
What’s Going On with Trump and Musk?

From Alliance to Discord
Elon Musk was a prominent supporter of Trump's 2024 re-election campaign, contributing over $200 million and serving as co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an advisory body aimed at reducing federal spending. Their collaboration was highlighted by joint appearances and policy initiatives.
However, tensions escalated in late May 2025 when Musk resigned from DOGE, noting that he want to spend less time on politics and more time on his businesses.
The situation intensified after Musk publicly criticized Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," labeling it a "disgusting abomination" due to its projected $3 trillion addition to the federal deficit.
Escalation of the Feud
In response to Musk's criticisms, Trump threatened to revoke federal contracts with Musk's companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, which have received substantial government funding.
Musk retaliated by accusing Trump of ingratitude and, without providing evidence, suggested that Trump was implicated in the Epstein files.
The feud has had tangible repercussions: Tesla's stock experienced a significant decline, and Musk's net worth reportedly decreased by $34 billion.
Current Status
As of June 6, 2025, there are no plans for direct communication between Musk and Trump. Trump has dismissed the idea of a conversation, stating that Musk has "lost his mind" and expressing no interest in engaging with him at this time.
This public fallout underscores the volatility of political alliances and the impact of policy disagreements on personal relationships.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom: Protests Over New Surveillance Laws
On June 4, 2025, thousands of protesters formed a "Red Line for Palestine" encircling the UK Parliament in Westminster. The demonstration aimed to demand an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel for its actions in Gaza. This protest occurred amidst growing concerns over the UK's new surveillance laws and restrictions on the right to protest. Critics argue that recent legislation, such as the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 and the Public Order Act 2023, has expanded police powers and curtailed civil liberties, leading to increased surveillance and limitations on peaceful demonstrations.
🇧🇷 Brazil: Surge in Illegal Mining in the Amazon
Illegal gold mining in the Brazilian Amazon has seen a significant increase, with criminal groups smuggling gold into Venezuela to bypass stricter enforcement measures in Brazil. These activities have led to environmental degradation, including deforestation and mercury contamination, posing threats to Indigenous communities and biodiversity. Despite government efforts to curb illegal mining through raids and new regulations, the trade persists, driven by high global gold prices and demand.
